kesbeke v2Kesbeke is still the only pickling plant of real Amsterdam Pickles. Oos, third generation Kesbeke, has run it since 1999. His grandfather, Charles Kesbeke, the company founder, started the company in 1948 in the heart of Amsterdam in a cellar on Waterloopplein. He moved to Amsterdam after his bakery in Zeeland stopped. Amsterdam offered Charles new opportunities in the form of an Amsterdam favourite: pickles. The first gherkins and onions were washed, pickled and pasteurised in glass jars in that very cellar. The pasteurisation took place, for want of a better method, in dustbins that he ‘found’ in and around the market. He often sold the pickles in the pub where he enjoyed the atmosphere and chat. Charles was friendly with the distillers of the local gin factory: pickles and a drink certainly go well together. For more information about Kesbeke, please go to http://www.kesbeke.nl/.

ReflexSystems is to apply its user-friendly ERP software, which is linked to the in-house developed Flex 3000 hardware, to Kesbeke in order to automate the recipes, tracing and order processing. The emphasis at implementation lies initially on the EDI order stream processing. The standard Order and EDI Link modules will play a large part in this. The tracing is of course fully covered according to legislation. Kesbeke have ultimately opted for ReflexSystems because of its practical solutions and hands-on mentality. The fact that ReflexSystems has already automated more than 650 companies in the food industry facilitated this decision. The implementation at Kesbeke will be completed before the end of this year when they can fully experience the advantages provided by Reflex 3000.
